Kenneth Tolliver is a tank truck driver for G&D/Hoffman Transportation with 22 years of experience, including17 years in pneumatics, and three million accident-free miles. As one of eight finalists for the 2023 NTTC Champion award, Kenneth says he is blessed to be in this industry, and grateful to be in Arlington representing Hoffman Transportation. “It would be such an honor to represent this industry. I try to be a role model for this industry each day. To be part of this year’s elite eight, and to have the opportunity to hold this award for a year, is just such a tremendous honor.”

Safety is an important part of every trucker’s life on the road. Kenneth says that one of his biggest life accomplishments is his three million accident-free miles. He says that is in part due to how seriously he takes safety. For Kenneth, safety starts with a safe and through pre-trip, and continues with a safe and distraction-less drive during the day. “I try to prepare myself each and every day to be the best I can be and to be aware of my surroundings at all times.”

Kenneth says that he most enjoys being able to represent Hoffman Transportation and having the opportunity to be a role model to younger drivers. “I think I let my light shine through my work, through my efforts each and every day, and how I interact with my customers.”

Kenneth’s inspiration for joining the industry was a close family friend who owned a milk truck. As a kid, Kenneth would ride with and ask him questions about how the truck works and operates.

As a tank truck driver, Kenneth spends his days on the road hauling products to help, in his words, “keep America moving.” One of his passions is mentoring new drivers. Teaching young drivers how to be safe and aware on the road is something that he believes is critical to building the way for the next generation of truckers.

Kenneth believes one of the best ways to attract more truck drivers is to invest in industry education. He advises new drivers to first “start out and learn the industry so that you can grow in it. As you stay in it, you will learn to have a passion for this industry, and that’s something you’ll never lose.” He plans to continue to serve as an industry role model.

Outside of trucking, Kenneth enjoys cheering for his Tennessee Volunteers. “Go Vols Nation!!”
