Amber Edmondson, President & CEO, Trailiner Corp.

Amber Edmondson is the President & CEO of Trailiner Corp., a trucking company based in Springfield, Missouri that was founded by her grandfather. She is an owner of Trailiner.

Amber first joined the family business in 1999 at the encouragement of her grandfather while she was completing her college degree in business. After graduating, Amber’s grandfather asked her to stay with the company and mentor with one of the executives there. Throughout her career, she learned all aspects of the family business. “Now, it’s 23 years later and I’m still here!,” Amber told TMAF.

In 2018, Amber bought the company; three of her cousins are in ownership with her.

Discussing her job as President & CEO, Amber told TMAF that she is focused on the business strategy of the company. She works to position the company for future opportunities and growth, while keeping the business running successfully and supporting her team. “I work to empower my team to do the things they need to do.”

Speaking about what she loves most about trucking, Amber said, “What I love most about trucking is that no day is the same. There’s always something that keeps it interesting.” She also enjoys the people in the industry. “You also get to interact with a broad, diverse group of people.”

Some of Amber’s most memorable moments throughout her career include being affiliated with ATA and TCA because she has been able to meet many people in the industry.

“I have gotten to meet people across the industry and it’s interesting to hear other people’s stories — especially those with similar stories to mine. I like hearing the stories of other people who are working in a family business — those who are working to keep the family atmosphere while keeping the business running from generation to generation.” There are a lot of stories of family companies in the trucking industry, she explained.

In her spare time, Amber enjoys listening to music and going to concerts with her husband, spending time with family and friends, reading, and spending time by the pool in the warm summer weather.

Amber encourages other women who are considering a career in trucking to join the industry. “There are an unlimited number of opportunities for women in trucking. Women have the freedom of being out on the open road as a driver or working their way up in a company. There are a lot of women in executive leadership positions in trucking now. The opportunities are out there if you’re willing to put in the work and pursue those opportunities.”
