During the Covid-19 pandemic, Americans have been showing their support for truckers in many ways and the movement to #ThankATrucker continues to grow nationwide. Over the past several weeks, truck drivers have received thanks from individuals, companies and associations who have found ways to give back and show their support for truck drivers.

Within communities, many restaurants are offering free or discounted food for truck drivers; organizations are donating food and supplies to truck drivers who may not have the time to shop for themselves; and individuals are showing their support for trucking in unique ways on the road in their communities or on social media. You can read more about these efforts here.

Join the growing movement and thank a trucker today. Here are ten small ways to say show your thanks and give back to truck drivers in your neighborhood for their selfless work:

· Give a truck driver a gift card to a local store or restaurant.

· Pay for a truck driver’s cup of coffee while they are stopped at a gas station or rest stop.

· Buy a trucker a meal when they stop to grab a bite to eat.

· Gift a trucker with a care package filled with essentials, such as water, canned goods, snacks, paper goods and hand sanitizer.

· When you see a truck on the road, give the driver a wave or thumps up.

· Be courteous when sharing the road with a truck driver. When passing a truck, be sure to signal, provide enough room ahead of the truck, and be aware of a truck driver’s blind spots.

· Leave your driver a thank you note on your front door.

· Put up a thank you sign on the side of the road or on an overpass.

· #ThankATrucker on social media and encourage others to do the same.

· Support local trucking charities and nonprofit organizations that provide financial assistance to truck drivers in need.

Whether it’s a friendly wave from behind the wheel or buying a truck driver a cup of coffee at a rest stop, one simple act of thanks goes a long way in showing your appreciation for the everyday heroes in the trucking industry during this challenging time.
